My Top 5 Instagram Worthy Vacations in Nova Scotia
how to own your days and stop letting your days own you
1. Saltyrose & The Periwinkle Café
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve heard me PREACH about this place. It’s quaint; they have the best food, an amazing shop, and the prettiest views. Also, I can’t forget, my absolute favourite coffee ever, North Mountain. Sarah Beth and Caitlyn do such an amazing job at giving their guests a unique experience. When you walk into this amazing space, you can literally feel the heart and hard work that went into this business. Located on the beautiful Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, you’ll also find many other activities to keep you busy like hitting up Ingonish Beach, Highland Bow and Arrow, Paddle boarding, Whale Watching, and so much more.
You can read more about Periwinkles story, on their design sponge feature!
2. A weekend in Wolfville
There is nothing that excites me more than the thought of warm weather and good wine. We usually manage to escape at least once a year to this gorgeous place. Last year we did a girls weekend for my friends birthday and we hit up the Magic Winery Bus and enjoyed a full day visiting all of Nova Scotia’s amazing wineries, enjoyed delicious food and took a LOT of photos. We ended our evening by staying at the “Little Foot Yhurts”, which was an experience in itself!
3. Cabot Links in Inverness
If you’ve never been to this breathtaking spot in Cape Breton, you are missing out. Inverness has some of the most breathtaking views, and one of the world’s top 100 golf courses. Now, I am certainly not a big golf gal, but I have stayed at the Cabot Links, and even if you don’t golf, you’ll still love it. The rooms are bright and modern, and the food is out of this world. You can also add some adventure to your trip by hitting up Inverness newest brewery Route 19, Glenora Inn Distillery, Tubing in the Margaree River, and even some square dancing if you’re feeling a little wild and free.

4. A weekend in the city
I love getting away to spend a few nights in Halifax and mostly for the food and shopping. My favourite part about spending the night in Halifax is picking which airbnb I’ll stay in. I’ve listed a few that I’ve stayed at in the past year along with a few that I’ve been trying to stay at but haven’t yet. Some of my favourite things to do while in Halifax include; Hitting up The Seaport Farmers Market, followed by the best brunch ever at The Coastal Café or Edna. Bouldering at Seven Bays if you’re the active type, Supper and Drinks at my favourite restaurants, The stubborn Goat, Lot Six, Antojos, The Bicycle Thief, Auction House or EnVie!
Here is a little list of my fave airbnbs:
An East Coast Oasis (I have yet to stay here because I’m a last minute booker and this place is in high demand, but if you’re someone who plans things far out, you need to stay here! It’s so unique and cozy!)
Vintage Vibe With Halifax Hospitality
Modern Fully Equipped Studio In Downtown Halifax
Downtown Designer Diggs
Arty Boho Loft With BBQ Balcony & Gym
Seriously, this is just me naming a few… There are SO many beautiful places to stay in the Halifax area!
5. MacLeod Homestead
Of COURSE I am adding our very own Staycation Experience to the list! If you’re looking for a cute place to stay in Sydney, Cape Breton we will meet all your instagram goals and more. Hit up nurtured spa for a little TLC, live music and drinks at Breton Brewing, and enjoy a tasty meal at one our favourite restaurants in town Flavor Downtown or Flavor on the Water. We also LOVE the beer garden and patio at Governors Pub! Take a stroll through some of the trails in our backyard, or have a cozy night in and watch the stars while listening to the peepers. Our spot is only 12 minutes from downtown Sydney, and about 45 minutes from the beginning of the Cabot Trail.
I hope this post was helpful! I probably could have shared WAY more places but we’ll save some of them for another post. I love that I get to call Nova Scotia home and I’m looking forward to staying at some of these places this summer :)
